A prop spends its working life outdoors in an Australian December. Full sun through the day, storms in the afternoon, wind whenever it feels like it. The board cops all of it for six weeks straight while holding a few hundred pixels exactly where the xModel says they should be. That's a structural job, and not every sheet of plastic is up to it.
What corflute actually is
Corflute (the hobby calls it coro) is twin-wall polypropylene sheet: two flat faces joined by internal ribs, the same family of material you've seen in real estate signs. It's light, it's weatherproof, and it can be cut into intricate designs without losing strength.
But corflute comes in thicknesses, and thickness is the whole game. Thin sheet is fine for a sign zip-tied to a fence for a month. A prop is different. It's cut full of pixel holes, which removes material and creates flex points, then it's stood up in the weather with hardware hanging off it.

Why 10mm is the number
Not because bigger numbers sound better. Because of what thickness does in a cut prop: it holds its shape with a few hundred holes in it, it takes mounting loads without crushing, and it survives ten months in a shed between seasons.
This is also why our props ship flat with no folds. A fold is a permanent weak line in the board, and we'd rather pay for bigger boxes than send you a creased prop. (More on what arrives and when in our FAQs.
The FR part is not marketing
FR stands for flame retardant, and in this hobby it's worth taking seriously. A sequenced display is an electrical installation running for hours every night, surrounded by plastic. Most nights, nothing happens. The point of FR-rated board is what happens on the night something does: flame retardant material resists ignition and slows spread rather than feeding it.
Stories move fast in the hobby community, and most builders have heard at least one about a cheap prop and a hot connection. We're not in the business of scaring anyone. We're in the business of cutting props from FR-rated board so that particular story doesn't start in your yard.
One line to remember: FR-rated is not fireproof, and nothing about the board replaces safe electrical practice in your display. The board is the last line of defence, not the first.
